Putting my Experience to Work for You
BIO - Background & Experience
My name is Rick C. Reder. As President and Managing Owner of my firm I have over 25 years experience working for International Top 25, Fortune 500 and Small Private Firms. I was a Pre-Med student for 4 years before I switched to business and received my BS degree in Industrial Management from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI where I also attended graduate studies. Much of my work experience has been start-up, staffing, facilities, design, engineering, marketing, developing, manufacturing and selling high tech manufactured products and services. I have served in positions of responsibility for the U.S. military, private firms and large international companies such as, the U.S. Air Force, Brinkmann Corporation, Hughes Aircraft Company, General Dynamics, EMS and Panasonic. I have the ability to communicate with people at different levels and from different industries. Through my many years of experience of working with and managing people at many levels, I've always had an understanding of where a person is regarding professional growth and then placing them in positions that will challenge them, but not overpower them.

Career Accomplishments:

Before opening my firm, I was General Manager of Panasonic Automotive where, in 7 years, we grew the high tech, high volume manufacturing company from an $85M a year company with 535 employees and one plant to over a $900M year company with 2200 employees and two state-of-the-art manufacturing plants. Our team improved quality, productivity and profits by incorporating ISO 9001, QS 9000, ISO 14001, Six Sigma and Toyota Lean Manufacturing. We also built and staffed an Engineering R&D Department from 5 Engineers to over 135 Engineers. During my tenure at Panasonic we launched over 110 new products and tripled our customer base. Customers: Toyota, GM, Saturn, Honda, Mercedes Benz, Chrysler, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Delco/Delphi, Visteon and Panasonic Consumer Electronics. Designed and launched Satellite Receiver for Sirius Satellite Radio. Throughout my career, I have led and staffed many High Tech and Consumer Electronics programs from proposal stage and engineering concept to reality, mass production and sales and have been lucky enough to work on some of the most advanced technologies in the world today.

During my 11 year tenure at General Dynamics we proposed, negotiated and won multi-billion dollar contracts then built, modified or tooled up large manufacturing facilities, staffed, implemented and proved out high tech manufacturing plants building such high tech, high quality products as the M1A1 Tank in MI and OH, Tomahawk Cruise Missiles in CA and the SuperCollider in LA and TX.

GD, Land Systems Division. Subcontracted all M1A1 and M60 Tank Steel and Aluminum Armor Plate, Nesting and Cutting of Plate and all Castings and Forgings. Implemented "Clustering" of Parts and Issued 3 year Multi Year Contracts saving over $24M per year and allowing our 9,000 Man manufacturing division to gain a 3 year Multi Year Contract from the US Army.

GD, Convair Division. McDonnell Douglas had recently built a new manufacturing plant in FL and had just won the majority share of a 70%-30% annual award for the Tomahawk Cruise Missile. Transferred to Tomahawk Program by Corporate to reduce Tomahawk sales price by 20% by working with all Departments to redesign Tomahawk and work with suppliers to reduce material costs. CEO of division stated, "we win back majority share or we close this 8,000 man division". Led this cost reduction project, implemented changes and won back Tomahawk 70% majority share. Received Diamond Award, General Dynamics Highest Corporate Award.

GD, SuperCollider Project. Sent to LA to build and tool up ($250M worth of automated, very large scale tooling) a state-of-the-art SuperCollider Magnet Manufacturing Plant whose purpose was to build 10,000-52 foot long, 32,000 pound each Cryogenic SuperCollider Magnets over a 10 Year Program. International DOE Program, many countries involved/contributed. Plant built and tooled. Prototype, Pre-Production and Production of SuperCollider Magnets achieved. Led and issued MultiYear Contracts for materials awarded for 10 Years worth $2.1B.

At Hughes Aircraft Company, I was promoted as the youngest Program Manager for the F-14 and F-18 Fighter Aircraft Radar Systems.
